Hi all. Starting my junior year I made the decision to become part of a sport fitness and leadership development group back in my hometown. The group prepped student athletes for college athletics, leadership, mentorship, and discipleship. More importantly, it brought the subject of christian masculinity to the boys. I say boys in the understanding that all of us were constantly failing as christian "men." In my high school years I have screwed up a multitude of times. I have taken advantage of relationships (whether friends or girlfriends or family). I have also closed myself off to God's beautiful plan in my life in the past. The most important mistakes I have made came from my lack of understanding of what a christian man looks like. So, I am very excited to reveal what this journey has looked like for me and what a christian man should look like in the eyes of God, in the eyes of your future spouse, for your children, and for your friends. I will begin the process by explaining how important it is to dream, and to not only dream but to pray over and go after God's purpose for your life. I will then discuss what leadership and mentorship looks like. The conclusion of this blog will be devoted towards the definition of masculinity. I believe the volcano in the picture is a perfect image of what this journey will be about. It's beautiful from this view, but traveling down near the bottom staring up at the obstacle is frightening and the result may become losing heart. But, I promise...the view from the top and the journey to the top is well worth it. I am beyond excited to share words of God, my mentors, and authors who are highly knowledgable in these areas.
